This is San Bernardino alle Ossa, a church in Millan Northern Italy. It has a chapel decorated with human skulls and bones.
The story is; in 1210, when an adjacent cemetery ran out of space, a room was built to hold bones. A church was attached in 1269.
Similar to the images and sculptures in Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris France, the African Christians would say “They’re just Gargoyles built outside the church to scare evil spirits away and they are also architectural design to prevent water damage to the walls”
The human skulls and bones at San Bernardino alle ossa church in Milan Italy, African Christians would say “They were just human skulls and bones put in there because they ran out of space at the nearby cemetery”
Ancient African sculptures, artefacts and totems. African Christians would say “They are demonic, evil, diabolic and idolatry, the bible says we should burn and destroy them in the name of Jesus”
Listen I don’t remotely have no single problem with what the Parisians or French chose to do with their historic monuments. And it’s not in my place to judge the Italians on what they chose to do with their heritage or their dead skulls and bones.
But I’m most disheartened with my fellow Africans and Igbos who go about destroying our own ancestral heritages and ancient monuments and artefacts under the guise of church, Christianity, Jesus and bible.
The truth is, in Africa these Gargoyle images in Paris France 🇫🇷 and human skulls and bones in Milan Italy are associated with evil and demons by the religious. But to the French and Italian they’re cultural and nothing but ancient heritage.
Dear African Christian and dear preacher man, this is 2019 not 1219 please stop destroying our African cum Igbo heritages. They’re harmless and should be protected and cherished; they’re not the cause of your misfortunes and poverty.
